About

Born and raised in Chicago as Starlene Hyde, and now residing in a little town in Illinois, I am Star Hauki. I have been captivated by the work of Norman Rockwell ever since I can remember. I used to sit in my grandmother's living room and stare at the covers of the Post Magazines for hours. Norman Rockwell captured expression and time in his paintings. He mastered in capturing expression and time in the American history which made his art a memory of history that will last forever. This inspired me with the illustration of expression.

I love drawing, painting, and sculpting. I love working with faces. I credit this to my favorite art teacher, Mr. Allen at Faulkner State in Bay Minette, AL. He taught me the concepts of "painting through the lashes" from Vincent Van Gogh. It was a technique that Van Gogh started in 1885 where the shadows are put together before the lines and details blurring the details until last. I now use this concept with all my drawings and paintings.
