There are beautiful Japanese gardens at the Chicago Botanic Garden, and this painting was inspired by a walk I took through them. I wanted to capture the serenity of this special place. Somehow Japanese gardens always seem to be imbued with stillness, an island of calm in a wildly spinning world.
