I've always loved the rich yellow of a tamarack in fall, and the rich red berries of the winterberry. Here I found a vantage point where I could combine the two against a sky threatening to storm. I particularly liked how the bare branches of the shrubs appeared blue-lavender from a distance, providing another band of lovely color.
