I've been so happy to be able to replicate a pairing I saw in a nature preserve recently. These plants grew together in a beautiful wet meadow along with penstemon, and they were all blooming at the same time. Heaven! For this painting I wanted to capture that rich color, as well as the variation In shape and texture.
