Along the Dune trail at ILBSP you can get a glimpse of the structures from the old sand mining operation that took place there a long time ago. Here, a killdeer has perched on a broken concrete abutment. I enjoyed painting the concrete, with its rough surface and cracks, set against the dune and the grasses. The bird looked like it was perched on a surfboard to me, which gave me the title of the painting.
