Reiki is a type of complementary medicine. It has been around for nearly a hundred years and is a very popular form of healing. Reiki aims to unblock stagnant or negative energy in the body. It is based on the belief that universal energy (ki) flows through seven chakras in the body, and that it can become blocked. These blockages can cause mental or physical ill health.
  • Reiki is a holistic therapy. This means that it doesn’t view symptoms or diseases in isolation. It looks at the entire body and the flow of energy throughout it.
  • Reiki  is not connected to any religion.
  • Reiki is used to treat a wide variety of conditions, both mental and physical.
  • Reiki works to relieve stress and to aid relaxation.
  • You don't have to believe in Reiki for it to work
What to expect
  • You are fully clothed during a Reiki session. You lie comfortably on a plinth while soft music is playing in the background. The treatment is done by the laying on of hands on a specific set of hand positions on the body. It can also be done a few inches above the body for those who may be uncomfortable with physical touch. Some people experience a sensation of heat in the areas being worked on. A full body Reiki treatment takes an hour. Usually people come away feeling incredibly chilled out.
