Whether you have always wanted to make art and never tried or have been drawing and painting for years, Rainbarrow Studio can offer a class that will help you to pursue your passion or further develop your existing skills. Professional artist Frank Sullivan offers art classes and private instruction for students and artists of all levels, with a focus on fostering creative investigation and helping each student to develop their own personal voice.
Studio instruction emphasizes the development of a thorough understanding of the formal elements of the visual language (shape, line, value, texture and color), via working primarily from direct observation, rather than on purely technical solutions. In addition to formal concepts and technical skills, students will be exposed to a variety of work by prominent figures from the history of art.
Students are encouraged to experiment until they find the medium and technical approaches that best suit their individual vision. Small classes (usually no more than four students) allow for plenty of individual attention for each student while still allowing students the benefits of working in a group. Classes are conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, encouraging the development of individual creativity and the building of self-confidence.
Classes usually run from late Spring through the Fall. Private lessons are available year-round.
