Born and mostly raised in California, I am now happily living and creating in beautiful San Diego. I have had no formal art training but armed with a strong desire to learn, I have taken many art related adult education classes and workshops.
My first art teacher favored pastels, so that was the medium I started with. Since then I have tried several others, but pastel remains my favorite. I love the vibrant colors and ease of application.
I enjoy painting portraits, especially of children. They have such free spirits and express a wonderful curiosity and love of life. Always honest in their feelings, they are fun to photograph and paint.
I am currently having lots of fun creating still life paintings. The wonderful colors and textures are very exciting to capture on paper. I find inspiration in everyday objects and the wealth of fruits and vegetables we see every day.
For several years I have been a member of the San Diego Portrait Society and the Pastel Society of San Diego. I have shown work in many local shows and have won several awards. I still take classes and workshops and continue to learn and grow in my art.
