 | | Pastel Pencils are my favourite medium. I can capture detail as well as blend. They can produce amazingly vibrant colours as well as subtle tones. |
 | | Oil painting is relatively new to me. I enjoy realistic impressionism. I find painting with oils fun and exciting as the painting developes in ways that I never imagined. |
 | | I have always loved working in graphite pencil as it is possible to capture fine detail. As time went on, however, I wanted to be able to add colour yet continue to produce detailed work. I discovered coloured pencil and fell in love with it. |
 | | Dabbling in mixed media can be fun. |
 | | Illustration commissions are both challenging and exciting. I have undertaken various commissions mainly involving product labels and children's books. |
 | | This is a selection of photographs taken by me some of which have been reproduced on greeting cards or made into wall pictures. |
 | | Graphite pencil is a wonderful medium to capture fine detail. |

| I have had a passion for art as far back as I can remember. My first formal training came when I attended Harding University in Arkansas. I later worked as a background artist in a number of large departmental stores taking on freelance art jobs in my spare time. Creativity runs through my veins, captures my thoughts and pulsates in every aspect of my being. It is what I love and who I am. I pour myself into the creation process meticulously considering every detail.
My favourite medium is pastel pencils used on coloured pastel paper. I enjoy detail as well as control and this medium gives me both. I like to work with graphite pencil and coloured pencil but find that pastel pencils give detail with the added ability to blend. I have dabbled in oil and watercolour. My most recent work is that of illustrating a child's book which has been my life long dream. The combination of gouache and pen and ink give a richness to illustrations.
I enjoy the technique of leaving a painting partly unfinished. I believe... |
| No Truer Statement I once asked my art mentor if he would teach me to draw. “I’m not going to teach you how to draw”, he replied. “I’m going to teach you how to see.” | | Art - A Spiritual Journey I went through a period in my life where spiritual development became very important to me. As my artistic talent has been given to me by God I wanted to use it in my personal growth. Using art in this way is a beautiful and satisfying experience. | | Spinal Operation I had a massive spinal operation to my neck at the age of 40. My spine had degenerated and there was also a huge abnormal bone growth in my neck causing such sever pain that I would start to shake and get hot and cold flushes. A delicate operation was inevitable. | | Continuing My Artist Journey I eventually had to get employment as my home business was not making enough money. When my baby girl was only 18 months I left her with a day carer and went back to work. My son was in pre-school by then. | | A Memorable Baby Quilt This is one of the many baby quilts I made for a customer. Notice that I have hand embroidered the baby's name and date of birth at the bottom of the quilt. |
