Cynthia’s interest in art has been evident from an early age. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Cleveland Institute of Art with design
emphasis in Industrial Design and Graphic design and has built a diverse
career in the visual arts. She particularly favors watercolors showcasing
a variety of subjects inspired by Southern California. An active participant
in the art community, Cynthia has had her paintings recognized in many
watercolor shows including International exhibitions from San Diego Watercolor Society, Northwest Watercolor Society and Women in Watercolor.
She is a signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society.
Her artistic journey has led her to embrace the unique medium
of Batik Watercolor, a technique involving wax resist.
Cynthia’s method of selecting
subject matter involves prioritizing elements such as composition, design, color, contrast, and light to achieve a visually pleasing result.
Her method allows her to express the mood or sentiment towards the scene and incorporating it into the painting. Cynthia employs light and color to articulate design elements within both the focal area and supporting areas of her compositions.
