I am an artist who creates expressive paintings and mindful Zentangle-inspired art focused on inner feelings and personal connection.
My art journey began when I was a girl who loved the feel of art supplies in my hands and freely created with them. That early joy of making art never left me. Later in life, in my forties, I discovered watercolor painting, which opened a new world of color and expression. I was certified as a Zentangle teacher as well. Currently I'm engaged in a painting course that has deepened my appreciation for mindful, deliberate mark-making and meditative creativity.
I paint both expressive landscapes and vibrant, layered abstract compositions. My landscapes often capture dramatic natural scenes. My abstract work is more energetic and intuitive, built with bold brushstrokes, thick impasto texture, and rich, layered colors that release emotion onto the paper or canvas.
Nature is my greatest inspiration. I draw from the beauty I see and feel during travels and in quiet everyday moments. I’m also deeply influenced by poetry, music, and the work of other artists who celebrate honest, courageous expression. I chose to pursue art because it gives me the freedom to be fully authentic. It is the one place where I can express my true self without filters. Creating art has become both a joyful practice and a way to explore and share inner feelings, inviting viewers to see something of themselves reflected in the work.
When I teach Zentangle art I am always grateful for the joy my students experience when they see the beautiful art they create with pen, ink, graphite and a tortillon. The sessions fly by because the drawing is so meditative. Everyone goes home with several unique pieces of art, a new confidence and smiles on their faces.
