Painting answers my lifelong urge to render what I see around
me into my art. My paintings represent the people I have met and the many
places all over the world where I have lived and visited.
I studied and received my BA in Fine Arts at the University of
Arkansas. Here in Austin, Texas I paint with the Waterloo Watercolor Group. My
paintings Joanna and Circus Fantasy both
won Merit Awards at Waterloo Watercolor Annual Shows.
I am in the late stages of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis)
also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Although I have lost the ability to move
and control much of my body, this summer I was able to complete a series of 4
paintings depicting my childhood memories of playing with my siblings and
cousins on my grandparents’ farm ("Last Memories" series). My condition has progressed at such a rate
that I have now painted my last watercolor and have begun to receive hospice
care.
