Appalachian
Reflections is an acrylic collaborative painting by three artists – Susan
Tolson, Gail Karnoupakis and Deede Edele.
Comprised of
nine panels visualizing an Appalachian Sunset over Butterfly Gap in Maryville,
Tennessee. Each artist completed three
panels; one of the sky, one of the mid-range and one of the foreground, not in
vertical order. The front porch of an
Appalachian cabin with memorabilia reminiscent of a simpler time was recreated
next to a pond.
Blount Memorial Hospital requested that we start an art program designed to give infusion patients a fun diversion while waiting for infusion to begin, during infusion treatments or with family members who were waiting. This has been so successful that the nurses on duty always want to join in or if they are too busy, we make a project for them to take home or display in their office. We meet once per month. There is no charge to patients, the hospital provides supplies and the artists volunteer their time.

Mane Support is a nonprofit organization that provides a ministry through equine-assisted grief counseling to children, youth, teens, and adults who have experienced a death, who are anticipating the death of someone they know or who have experienced other types of trauma. Mane Support is located in Blount and Roane Counties in TN with services offered to the surrounding areas.

Each 2020 Horse Ornament has been lovingly made by hand and is made from a recycled incandescent lightbulb. The large size is a 3 Way bulb, the medium size is a 60 watt bulb and the small size is a 40 watt chandelier bulb. All proceeds from ornament sales will benefit Mane Support Grief Counseling Horses.
