I can't remember a time when I wasn't drawing or painting. Many of
my best memories include after-school arts and crafts at the local recreation
department.
My serious interest in art began in high school. There, I began to develop my own
style of pastel painting. For the next twenty-five years, I concentrated on
developing my own style of portraiture.
After sustaining a serious hand and wrist injury, I was forced to stop painting for three years. When I returned to my art, I discovered that I could no longer paint as I had prior to the injury. Having to learn to paint again opened me to new possibilities and served as the catalyst for my transformation into a wildlife artist.
My wildlife paintings combine my ability as a portraitist with my love of wildlife. Painting in pastel (soft chalk) on board or sanded paper, I emphasizes my subject as the focal point of the piece by contrasting the tight, detailed subject against a background that is loose and slightly out of focus.
In 2014, I began to experiment with mixed media painting. These rainbow-color pieces are some of my favorites. In 2015, I added photography to my media list and now I regularly include photography in my shows.
My paintings. photographs and prints can be found in private collections in the United States, Israel and Canada.
