Hello! My name is Jacques Drapeau. I'm a member of the Greater Marysville Artists Guild. If you're interested in looking at some of my art, check out my "GALLERY" on this website, or take a look at my own website at
http://www.jacquesdrapeauart.com/. I paint pictures, shoes, hats, bricks, and other items that come to hand.
The picture of me to the right was taken a few years ago. I am the individual to the left in the picture. The individual to the right is a stegosaurus. You probably could have figured out for yourself that the picture is old. You don't find any stegosauruses around any more. They're believed to be extinct.
I now live in Marysville, Washington.
I’ve had almost no formal training as an
artist. (An “Advanced Art” class in 7th
grade at Newton Junior High School in Hacienda Heights, California is as far as
I got.)
I am, however, educated, for what this is worth. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry
and Physics from Whittier College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical
Engineering from the University of Southern California, and a Master of Science
degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington.
I worked for Longview Fibre Company for 34 years as a chemical engineer. In 2007, Longview Fibre was purchased by
Brookfield Asset Management. Brookfield
management decided that I wasn’t an asset, or at least that I wasn’t
an asset they wanted to manage. I was
“let go” in 2008. Since 2008 I have been "retired" or "an unemployed bum". (I don't know which describes me best.)
In addition to painting pictures, I play golf,
ballroom dance, roller skate, watch railroad trains, and attempt to be a
satisfactory spouse, parent, and grandparent.
You may be thinking that I'm weird. Let me assure you that some artists are weirder than
me. Not many, perhaps, but some.
