My animal portraits are done with a "sfumato" technique utilizing transparent glazes of color, similar to the method used by DaVinci to paint the Mona Lisa. For "Regal Hound", I applied approximately 20 successive oil color glazes over a two year period. The painting has vibrant color and an inner glow that is breathtaking under subdued lighting.
