Monotypes are usually made with oil or water-based inks. With encaustic monotype, pigmented wax is applied directly to a temperature-controlled metal plate by painting or pouring it onto the plate, or more commonly, drawing on it with in solid encaustic stick form. This series contains both monotypes and monoprints.  The second grouping contains encaustic monotype/collage inspired by underwater vegetation, plants and seaweed. The work was created on an inverted cradle board using Shou Sogi Ban, a Japanese burning technique which frames the work.
