It is nice to be in the Pine Dunes forest preserve, where you can see the land rolling before you. In many of the hollows water holds wetland plants and herons, while the small rolling hills host a wonderful tapestry of prairie plants and small trees. It can look a little random to my eye, so to paint it I will often look for an attractive clump of trees as a focal point and build my painting around that.
