I found this beautiful goldenrod in the woods next to the Chicago Botanic Garden. It became a subject in my ongoing pen and ink series. Recently I've been dipping back into my photo library of local flora to make paintings. For me, the traditional botanical painting is staid and boring. I'd rather see a plant in its setting, or with a creative background as I've done here.
