New Works and Trading Card Sketches

9/1/13

Kala Mari
Very excited about my new series of painting.  The first one is done, shown here.  I used copper leafing around the outside of the painting.  Really liked the effect.   Also did sketches of upcoming work.   I was asked to make them in to trading cards, which I did.  They are signed and come in a plastic sleeve  They are available to order through the website page at just $1 each.     http://bit.ly/132bkhm

Stay tuned for more new works.

Doing the Demo at the Escondido art association on Sept 11 at 7p.

Coming in October is the demo for the Redlands Art Association, Oct 22 at 7p  with a workshop for them on Oct 26 from 10a-3p.

What's New

7/7/13

After a busy June, things are a little calmer in July but not much.   Lots of things in the works. I have my Greek painting series on display in Old Town Temecula at Parea.  If you haven't seen these in person, please come on by.  they are each 2 foot x 4 foot and hang great as a series in this perfect Green restaurant setting. Opening reception is July 12 from 4p-7p. hope you can come by and have a glass of wine and talk art.   Parea is at 5th and Mercedes.

Teaching 7 classes a week, so if you are looking for instruction in a up beat environment, let me know.

Will be doing a demo for the Escondido Art Association September 11 at 7p.

And of course the infamous "Painting Pickled" workshop will be held again in October.  email me through the site if you want more info as it gets closer.

Starting a new series of paintings. Very excited about it.  More to come.......

June 2013

6/12/13

Lots of things going on in June.

Moved my art classes from Fallbrook to Vista, to the ArtBeat on Main Street,  classes are monday, wednesday over there. Plein Air still on Thursdays and in Murrieta on Fridays.  schedule is on my classes page of the website.

Brazen Arts in Fallbrook had their abstracts art show opening on June 1st.  Some really nice work.  Be sure to put this gallery on your schedule for every first saturday when they open their new art show.

Was asked to be one of the judge's at the San Diego county fair in Del Mar.  over 1300 entries had to be juried down to almost half of that.  It was alot of work but the resulting show is worth seeing.  many great works.  Reception was June 6 but the show and fair run until July 4.

Was one of the judges at the Idyllwild plein air festival the weekend of june 7-9.  Not many artists this year, but there were some gems created.

Lecturing in Idyllwild on June 13 to discuss plein air painting for their art education lecture series.  Thanks to the Living Room Gallery for having me back again this year.

Was selected to be a part of the Idyllwild public works art project. We are painting on aluminum sculptures of deer.

Brandon Gallery in Fallbrook's art by the inch fundraiser opening is June 22nd.  come out and purchase a painting that you pick out from the wall of art.  Thanks to the Brandon for inviting me to paint a section of the wall.

New Class Starting in Vista May 1

4/26/13

Rich Stergulz Art Class
Excited to announce a new NEW CLASS on Wednesday's starting May 1 from 3p-6p at Art Beat on Main Street in Vista.   http://artbeatonmainstreet.com/
This class is open to all mediums and levels.

I still have my other classes but this one was a good location for those in North San Diego county and the coastline to not have to travel inland to Fallbrook.

Thanks to Kait, Chris and Arthur at Art Beat on Main Street for being so open and enthusiastic to the idea of having me teach a class there.  Contact Kait at the gallery if you are interested in coming to the class.   You are welcome to come and audit a class to see if you'd like to come back.

San Diego Portrait Society Member Show 2012

10/15/12

Painting by Richard Stergulz
I had the honor of judging this year's member show for the San Diego Chapter of the Portrait Society. Though it was a small show, there were many good pieces entered.

If you have a chance to see the show, which is at the Buckman Gallery on Ray Street in San Diego, you should go.  Many shy away from painting portraits but these brave artists met the challenge head on and succeeded.

Congratulations to all the winners and to all that entered.  A special thank you to Renee Corwin and her tireless crew of volunteers that made this show possible and my job an easy one.
