Cancer can take a patient and their family to an environment that feels completely foreign (the hospital) where we try to communicate in new languages (“doctor-speak”, medical terminology, sometimes even insurance lingo).  The learning curve is rigorously steep while dealing with the shellshock of diagnosis and caring for the loved one.

This painting shows two distant figures representing people who come alongside the path to offer much-needed help and guidance along the way.  The colorful parrot is an icon of freedom.  While the world feels narrowed to become like an exotic alien place, faith and the help of others lifts our eyes to see hope and freedom is possible even on the most difficult of journeys.   I want keep this viewpoint and hope to share it with others.
