I love to watch my people perform native dances. As this painting progressed, I wanted to add dance masks to the performer/storyteller...I thought I'd honor my mother by asking her preference in this case. She wanted the raven mask, and I love that choice. It has a touch of metal flake detail around the sun shape. This piece was purchased by an esteemed collector in Alaska before it was even completed.
