About

The love of flowers and nature has always pushed me to recapture their images on paper.  Though I have taken several workshops on techniques and with several renowned artists, I would categorize myself as self-taught.  Though a teacher by profession, I always had the need to create.  I remember saying to someone as I left that field, "My heart is in my art!".

In Virginia, I opened my own shop and was gratified by every sale as well as the wonderful comments from all of the customers.  One of my paintings hangs in the City Hall of Poquoson VA having received a Mayor's Purchase Award during the annual Seafood Festival of 2007.

My journey has taken me full circle to Kentucky and I am in constant search of one more scene or object that needs to be painted.   The many shades of green are always a challenge to capture.  Creeks, trees, rolling hills all keep pulling me onward.  I switch from watercolors to oils depending on how the moment inspires.  I photograph my subjects, then often paint them in the off seasons as I revist the composition and capture what inspired me originally.   (Allergies often interfere with plein-aire though I do go out when possible).  I paint to capture the essence not to produce a photo image...my colors will always be little brighter or bolder and hopefully pleasing to the eye for you.  If it makes you smile, I have achieved my goal....Thank you for stopping by.
