Acrylics, 14 x 18" I met this elderly woman in China. Our tour group had made a stop in a village known for its ducks. Along the road there were stores that had lines of duck carcasses hanging from clothes lines. Behind one of those stores we found a stream that was teaming with ducks and garbage. This lady was wading through the water, shifting through debris, looking for recycling materials. Her life must have been incredibly hard, yet her manner seemed so gentle and friendly.
