I have had a passion for art as far back as I can remember. My first formal training came when I attended Harding University in Arkansas. I later worked as a background artist in a number of large departmental stores taking on freelance art jobs in my spare time.

Creativity runs through my veins, captures my thoughts and pulsates in every aspect of my being. It is what I love and who I am. I pour myself into the creation process meticulously considering every detail.

I enjoy various mediums and have worked extensively with pastel pencils used on coloured pastel paper. I enjoy detail as well as control and this medium gives me both. I like to work with graphite pencil and coloured pencil but find that pastel pencils give detail with the added ability to blend. I also thoroughly enjoy fantacy watercolour paintings. I have illustrated an adult esoteric book, a kindle book cover and two children's books which has been my life long dream. The combination of gouache and pen and ink give a richness to illustrations while pastel produces a softer mood.

I enjoy the technique of leaving a painting partly unfinished. I believe it gives a sense of drama to the piece. I delight in portraits whether it be people or animals as I find each one has its own fasinating character. I take commissions so please contact me with details should you wish to have a portrait done of a loved one or a favourite pet.

I have always enjoyed fantasy, fairies in particular, and this shows in some of my art work.

I always begin a piece or artwork by researching my subject well, planning the sketch meticulously and playing with colours, tones and techniques before tackling the real thing. I enjoy fine detail but lately have tried to loosen up my work a little. I am beginning to appreciate the more realistic take on impressionism and hope to incorporate it into future art. I am planning  to start a whole new venture into mixed media incorporating meaningful words and poems which hopefully touch the heart and lift the spirit of the viewers.

The greatest satisfaction as an artist is when others not only admire my work but are moved by it. Good art should evoke emotion and capture not only the eyes but the heart.
