Niagara Falls in Winter No 12

For the “Niagara Falls in Winter” series, I created acrylic paintings expressing both the rugged beauty and the powerful energy and force of this huge waterfall. I experienced the impact of these waters in many winter climates over many years of visiting “the Falls”. I applied many layers of colours of paint, both thick and thin, building up ridges and suggesting the power of the falls dropping and the mists that occur.

This work is painted on cradled board and is one of two (diptych). Each of the works can be hung separately or together. They are designed to be placed on a floor to activate the floor space and they can also be hung on a wall. 36 x 36 x 1.5 in.
