I would like to thank Susan Phillips and her AP art class at Grossmont High School for the invitation to share some of my pastel techniques. I was expecting ten students, but more than pleased to see there were 40. I was somehow able to paint standing behind my easel, snaking my arm forward and across the painting. I literally could not see what I was painting! I invited 2 student up to the easel to try a hand at pastel painting and they were amazing. Later, several art students stayed behind to try out the various pastels and papers.I have to say that they were some of the most polite and attentive young people I've had the pleasure to meet. I'll start a work-in-progress on this painting.
