The Race sold today. This has been one of my favorite pieces. A portion of the sale goes to benefit our wonderful San Diego Hospice. They do so much for our community and our loved ones.
I would like to thank San Diego Hospice for the invitation to participate in the January/February Art Show with 13 other wonderful artists. My dear friend, Roseann Haslett, was the artist showing on the wall across from me. This gave us the opportunity to share our individual pastel painting styles with the many visitors during the reception last Sunday.
I was fortunate in receiving a People's Choice Award for the painting "Yellow Daffodils and and Lemons". That was a very pleasant surprise. http://www.sdhospice.org/event-gallery-4311
I am most honored to share a sneak peek link to an upcoming article in the February issue of Pastel Journal. Anne Hevener has written a piece on three artists who paint the contemporary still life in pastel. The artists are Lisa Ober, Ria Hills and Karen Howard. Here is the link with a few extra paintings and description of the article. The actual article and paintings will be in the February issue. http://www.artistsnetwork.com/medium/pastel/food-paintings
Sunday, January 6th, will be the opening day of an eight-week show at the San Diego Hospice, 4311 Third Avenue, in Hillcrest. I will be one of the artists.
The following Sunday, January 13th, from 2:00 to 4:00pm, will be the opening reception for the fourteen local artists. I hope you will attend. Hospice hosts such a lovely afternoon with live music, wine, cheese and art.
