|Trees/Forest Black and White Drawings |
I use a variety of black archival ink pens and lead pencils on various weights and textures of art paper. It's an easily used, portable and convenient medium.
I don't plan any of my images; they appear as I sketch. They are spontaneous and intuitive.
Most of the images include trees in one form or another. In the past, I made many of the images while sitting on the side of trails waiting for my spouse to return from his hikes. Now, with fibromyalgia severely restricting my energy level, I spend many hours looking from my windows into a forested landscape overlooking Saratoga Passage, Whidbey Island and the Olympic Mountains.
My black and white images are a translation of the shapes, feelings, sounds, textures and movement I am experiencing while I draw. The pen marks make for a variety of simplified, strong, focused stokes.
I hope you share my enjoyment of these drawings.
