Many of our beautiful forest preserves will offer a scene similar to this one, with a gracefully curving path leading into a stand of trees bordered by rich edgy habitat. It is a scene I never grow tired of. In this painting I thought it would be fun, once the strong design was established, to play with patterns and color within each of the larger shapes that add up to create the composition. It was great fun to do, and I hope, fun to look at.
