"Together it tastes better!"

 is a happening, or a performative culinary gathering with refugees from the AWO accommodation An  der Havel and the residents of the neighborhood. "Together it tastes better!" is also a phrase that can change the taste of food and life.

 

In the context of accommodation for refugees, one encounters many challenges and difficulties in relation to the topic of food. Meals in shelters are provided and are for many residents in little relation to previous eating habits. The consequence is that dietary habits must be changed in relation to the ingredients of meals or even the styles of dressing; Often it also requires an adaptation to a new eating rhythm.

 

The happening: A group of five to eight women refugees prepare dishes. They invite us to a culinary gathering at a public table. During the meal, they report on their experiences with food during and after the first few months at the refuge. Each of the cooks tells something about the dishes they have prepared. At the same time, Germans and women from various countries from the AWO Refugium and the surrounding area offer their varied dishes as a kind of culinary exchange. The red plates will accompany this meal!
