Fashat is a COMMUNITY ART PROJECT. It started in November
2016 and consists of two phases. The first phase consists of seven workshops,
which were created in the AWO Refugium on the Havel - it is about home,
memories, escape routes to Germany and the everyday life of the refugees in the
home.
The second phase consists of six workshops that take place
from September 2017 to February 2018 on a weekly basis - the focus here is on
meeting residents with refugees from the AWO Retreat on the Havel.
These meetings should take place in art workshops, in the
neighborhood house, various schools and other facilities of the cooperation
partners in order to encourage the population to participate.
A creative space for artistic exchange
A community art project with seven Workshops that takes place once or twice a week in refugee Camp Awo an der Havel. In the process, the refugees will exchange and express their own experiences through artistic expressions.
The project refers to different target groups children adults and adolescents that will experiment diverse mediums like painting, drawing and crafting for children. Letters Writing, photographing, cooking and constructions are workshops for adults and teenagers.
Through these artistic interventions one tries to create a cultural space in the home, which can facilitate the refugees from the stressful everyday life of the home and change their image ONLY as "refugees". By not being considered as passive burdens, but as active energetic fellows who can contribute their experiences and creativity.
Finally, one may ask about the capacity of art to play a participatory role in society so that it could create human capabilities and exchange beyond political discourse?
