CAPITOLA BY THE SEA

CAPITOLA BY THE SEA

It’s always a beautiful day in the neighborhood when you are in Capitola. Some days are more beautiful than others. Some days are gray and windy, but it’s still very very beautiful.

This painting captures the bay at it’s best, sparkling blue skies, a never ending riot of clouds passing by on their way to Watsonville, waves breaking on golden sands. The Capitola Wharf, in one form or another, has been there since the 1850’s. It’s been remodeled periodically by ferocious storms. It’s quite a scene when the waves scrape the bottom of the restaurant you’re eating in.

Painted by local artguy, Vern Scharf, with fine French acrylics over a 4 by 12 stretched eight ounce cotton duck gallery wrap canvas, and coated with multiple coats of acrylic varnishes to protect the view for generations to come.
