Odetta Sala Faruq |
Next |
This necklace, Odetta, is made of gourd, metal leaf, paperclay, brass, copper and black beaded chain. The gourd beads are approximately 2 1/4 x 1 1/4 x 1 1/4 inches and the chain is 18 inches. I completed this piece in 2009. A gourd is a hard-shelled fruit related to the pumpkin, squash and cucumber. It is durable, lightweight and watertight. It also grows in an array of shapes, sizes and textures. All my gourd creations are eco-friendly. I use organically grown gourds as well as water-based paints and sealants.
