The Velveteen Rabbit Becomes Real
The Velveteen Rabbit Becomes Real

Hand appliqued and hand quilted by Barbara Bell Dubovsky.  31" x 37"wallhanging.  The pictorial quilt depicts the Velveteen Rabbit jumping in the air, silhouetted on the full harvest moon as he becomes a real live rabbit.  This original design is based upon a favorite story that I read to my daughters and is one of my favorite creations.  It was designed with a particular fabric in mind based on rules of a competition called the Hoffman Challenge in 1989.   Out of 100 entries this quilt received 3rd place.  It travelled to 27 quilt shows around the country in 1989 and 1990.  It was then included in a book that was published in 1991 by Betty Boyink Publishing featuring many of the quilts in the '89 competition.
