Study of 'La vierge aux rochers' by da Vinci (center detail). This piece, which uses the classical van Aken oil technique, was completed while in Paris. The process begins with an impremature layer and then proceeds with alternating pigment and medium layers - gradually adding detail to the composition. I ground my own pigment and mixed my own varnish and medium. Because of my impressionistic leanings, this is not an exact copy.
