Winter at Tavy Cleave, Dartmoor
Winter at Tavy Cleave, Dartmoor

We don't get wintry weather every year in the SouthWest of England, and when we get it we tend to stay indoors... But I didn't about a year ago, I clumb up to the tors overlooking Tavy Cleave on the western edge of Dartmoor, got caught in a snow shower and when the sun broke through saw some fantastic views of the river Tavy covered lightly in snow. This is the result. Acrylics on a 24" x 18" (61 x 45 cm approx) deep edge canvas, varnished and ready to hang.

Painted in a spontaneous fashion onto a medium sized deep-edge canvas this oil painting gives a good impression of what I saw. It doesn't show you my frozen ears and nose... I do love oil paints as a medium, so smooth, and the smell of linseed oil adds to the attraction for me... 24 x 16 inches Daler & Rowney Georgian oils on a Loxley deep edge canvas, no frame needed. Ready to hang.
