110510.A Spiral Design Platter

Brownstone stoneware platter with spiral design.  A rolling stamp was made from a "hockey puck" of clay into which a design was carved by hand.  The rolling stamp was then bisque fired so that it remains porous, and then rolled on the raw clay platter to create the spiral design.
