Watercolor on paper
This isn't the world's greatest watercolor of a giraffe, but I had to post it because the giraffe was so remarkable.  Most zoo animals react to being drawn the same way people do--they get nervous and move around.  This giraffe made eye contact with me and stood  front of me without moving for a good half hour.  It's as if he knew what I was doing and wanted his portrait painted.  Midway through the process, I stopped painting so I could adjust my paints.  When I was ready to start up again, I saw that he had wandered off.  But he saw that I was looking for him and he came back to the same spot and resumed the same pose.  I have worked with human models who were less dedicated and considerate.  A remarkable animal!
