Realizing that all power is ultimately in His hands, I thank God for the natural light and energy that only He can provide.  This natural light and energy is not contingent on man's resources and abilities (which, also come from God).  With the absence of electrical power the other night and having to make due with only candle light (which was kind of nice, too) I got the idea of doing a series of paintings with minimal light.  We are so blessed with abundant living and have more than we really need, which makes me think that less is best.  When we learn to live with less, we are not caught up in materalism and coveting what others have, which breeds jeaslousy and discontentment.  When there are disasters of which I have no control, my creative mind starts turning and thinking about all of the things that I am thankful for and try to make the best of any given situation.  Focusing on solutions rather then problems is a tremendous help to me.
