Shelter from the Storm
Soul Trip (1955)

EXT - MYTHICAL AMERICAN DESERT, 1955. TORNADOES ATTACK FROM ALL SIDES. THERE IS NO PLACE TO GO.

this car
- a fairlane sunliner convertible -
is our time machine.

the paintings of pervertibles
- abstracts in the desert -
are artifacts and our road maps, in fact.

this motel
- set off the highway,
down from the diner,
on the edge of time -
is our oasis
and our fortress.

and, oh ma'am, in our oasis/fortress,
the things we will do:
with paintbrushes (and polaroids)
and our passions (and rope)
and our imagination.
all for the sake of art
(and perhaps our liberation).

we will outlast our storms.
