Asilomar Beach
Asilomar Beach

During the plein air convention 2013 in Monterey, we as a group of 900 or so descended on the beach at Asilomar. It was my first 'ocean' painting. It's really hard to paint a moving target. I do think I pulled it off nicely. Plein Air Convention and Expo inspired me to paint the ocean.  Never had I attempted a subject that is in constant motion and constant light change. I had to focus and memorize the surf moving in and out. Where I learned that mixing the colors before starting would help the process of spontaneity. I entered this in a compitition and won a ribbon. That feels great!
