In "A Drawing Together," two lights of differing
characters rule over two individuals (U-shapes, one in upper left, the other in
lower right) who are being drawn together to a meeting place (concentric
circles) pointed to by the God (hand of Fate ).
The path is created using symbols for the Dreamtime, suggesting that the
meeting first takes place in the land of Spirit before becoming a physical
reality in the material world. The two individuals (representing opposing
forces, polarity) are found in areas of cool, dark colors at opposite sides of
the painting. They are in the watery areas of the unconscious and they must
cross over the “land” of consciousness (yellow and red streams), in order to
become one. This is meant to suggest that we proceed forth from the fluid world
of the unconscious, but must progress through the material world in order to
evolve and reunite.
