13-072 Double Ruby Cabochon Pendant

This little number is only 10 x 23 mm, but packs a big punch. It is totally hand manufactured.

A sterling silver tube was created from 18 ga sheet sterling. Each end was sanded to make a bezel setting for the matching synthetic ruby cabochons. I then got happy with the torch and reticulated the tube. An old pickle fork provided the bale. It was contoured to fit the tube and was soldered into place.

Then the pendant was dipped several times into liver of sulfer and hot water, alternately, to achieve some contrast. The color was sanded off the bale and from around each end, just for a little shine.

The cabs were set in place sans glue.

Finally, I applied wax to the silver to preserve the color.
