Painting and printmaking are my passions. Lately I have been working more in mixed media in my acrylic and oil paintings. I love to include collage from my huge inventory of prints. Intense color and strong composition is most important to my work. I often paint in an abstract manner but I don't limit myself to abstracts only. My work is often bold and expressive and I use figures, nature and musical ideas as my subjects. My art generally develops from memory or imagination. I love to layer colors and textures. My philosophy on how I work is all about process and exploring new ways of painting or printmaking. To paint literally is not my intention. I feel successful when my viewer can come up with their own thoughts and feelings about a piece that might be considered somewhat ambiguous. I want to engage them in a visual conversation.
