Celebration This garment was hand woven using a technique titled, “tapestry,” along with rows of hand knots (rya knots). All the weaving thread was hand-dyed along with silk fabric and then cut into narrow strips and hand tied into rows of selected colors. Each four inches of weaving took three to five hours with the yarns used for the tapestry (inside of garment) woven into place by hand. History In the early 1980's La Conner Resident Martin Hahn, owner of the Black Swan Cafe came up with an idea for an annual arts festival. One evening in 1984 Hahn, together with his staff Ed Kamuda, Michael Klough and Paul Hanson, began discussing the concept of a festival that would highlight the local art as well as business community.
