My spoof on Thomas Hart Bentons painting of "Suzanna and the Elders". As you can see, the only additional item I painted into my version is the little dog warning Suzanna of the peeping elders.

Galleries

Work on Paper This gallery features my latest work in gouache paint on water color paper or brown paper. I have been painting with gouache for over twenty years, enjoying the color and quality this medium yields. Some works are inspired by Morris Graves, other works are inspired by early American painters such as Edward Hicks and interesting characters that keep popping up in my work.
Dogs and Creatures I love to paint dogs and various other creatures show up as well. I find dogs an endless source of material since they are so diverse in looks and nature.
Landscapes Ms. O'Briens landscape paintings are inspired by the view from her studio window overlooking the Snohomish river and also the Palouse region of Eastern Washington state.
Public Art Public Art Commissions from private and 1% for arts. Washington State Arts Commission, Puyallup Sculpture garden, Community Transit SWIFT bus program, Lowell Community Park in Everett, Washington, Seattle Metro Transit, Seattle Pike Place Public Market 2002 Pigs on Parade.
Sculpture I have been creating sculptures using papier mache since 1991. Here are my newest works which are the largest I have done to date.
Older works These fine paintings were created from 1989 through 1998 and are available for purchase.
Archives These works have been SOLD. If you would like to commission a similar work please contact me. Thanks for looking.
SALE These works are for sale at 50 % or more. Please send me a note if interested. Thank you for looking.

Moving So I need to Downsize
Moving Sale! After 43 years of living in Everett I am moving to Edmonds! A little condo! Hence, I am having a BIG sale here at the Everett house 5509 S. 2nd Ave., this coming Saturday September 7th &8th from 1-4pm or by appointment.

End of the Day
2024! This is my first painting of the year! I am donating it to the Schack Arts Center H'Arts annual auction fundraiser. This is the view from my house in Lowell which I have painted so many times I can't keep count. Either in the background or as the central theme as this one is.

LIfe on the River
It's a beautiful day in Everett overlooking the Snohomish River from my window. We have lived here for over 40 years! I have painted this scene so many times because i love it. The river is my muse, kind of like Georgia O'Keefe and the Pedernal.

Cowgirl BBQ purchase painting
I am happy to announce that the Cowgirl BBQ in Santa Fe, NM has purchased Miss Lori Lou Busts a Bronc for their art collection. I first visited the Cowgirl BBQ in 1995 when it was only 2 years old and now they celebrate their 30th year in business! Congratulations and thank you Patrick Lambert.

Dog days of Summer
Just relaxing during these hot summer days. Haven't painted in a while but am gearing up to do some nocturne palouse paintings. I love the palouse imagery so that's a good place to start.
