This painting is from my 1967-1969 period of spiritual development, as described above. The sense of the universal power underlying belief systems still fascinated me both as I experienced and painted them that I did a number of artworks on this theme. The different colors in this period were of the multiple ways in which the spiritual connection is experienced and abstract expressionism is an ideal format to express this - as Rothko and others also did.
