- All materials will be provided for each student to keep, including a sketchbook, pencils and other needed art tools and drawing media.
- The desire to learn to draw and the ability to sit quietly and focus during all lessons/classes is required.
- For children, ages 4 to 12, I’ll come to your home (with a parent or responsible adult at home) and for teens and adults we’ll meet at a quiet public location, mutually agreed upon.

CRAYON TECHNIQUES
Unconventional techniques even the youngest artist can master. Learn 14 different ways to use wax-based crayons.
Four (4) one hour lessons.

COLORED PENCIL TECHNIQUES
Students will learn creative methods using wax and oil based colored pencils…including stippling, hatching, cross-hatching, tonal gradations, frottage, layering, burnishing, impressed line, wax resist and sgrafitto along with the basics of color theory and color mixing.
Four (4) one hour lessons.

CARTOONING PEOPLE and ANIMALS
Learn how to draw cartoons by building on top of simple geometric shapes such as circles, ovals, squares and triangles.

ZAZENDOODLES
ZaZenDoodles is an intuitive, focused style of creating/drawing repetitive patterns that facilitates a shift from Left Brain activity to Right Brain activity, causing a relaxed meditative state of mind that reduces stress, quiets the mind and soothes the emotions.
Four (4) one hour lessons.

BASIC DRAWING
Students will learn how to start with simple geometric shapes to create their drawings. Right Brain/Left Brain exercises are used to learn to “see the way an artist sees” and to create the shift from left brain activity to right brain activity. We’ll practice accurate observation of proportion, shape, form and line.

BASIC PORTRAITURE
Learn to draw Classic Academic portraits with precision and the unique and distinct details of each face. You’ll learn how to construct “Portrait Blanks”, an artistic technique to help capture the “most common” placement of the facial features and the proportions of the face. We’ll move onto drawing the unique features of individual portraits concentrating on detailing the eyes, nose, mouth and face shape. Proficiency of Basic Drawing is suggested.

EIGHT (8) ONE HOUR LESSONS...
ADVANCED DRAWING
A continuation of Basic Drawing.
Exercises will improve basic drawing skills, with an emphasis on contour, proportion, line sensitivity, gesture, modeling and the shape of light and shadow. Students will learn how to “sight-size” and measure the subject in order to reproduce it accurately. They’ll also learn drawing from life as well as using photographic references using the grid method. Concentration will be on creating realistic representational art. Proficiency of Basic Drawing is required.
Eight (8) one hour lessons.

ADVANCED PORTRAITURE
A continuation of Basic Portraiture. Instruction includes moving beyond the line drawing, including classical bust drawing (a portrait of a classical sculpture, showing only the head and shoulders of the subject), detailing the line drawing, light sources, contouring and chairoscura. Concentrating on creating realistic representational art.

ADVANCED COLORED PENCIL DRAWING
A continuation of Colored Pencil Techniques. Lessons will include advanced color theory and color mixing, full color chairoscura and contouring in Colored Pencil.
