"You've been in love with reflections"

"You've been in love with reflections"
"You've been in love with reflections"

This is a piece that took years to transform into it's final form. It started out as a smaller painting and then I finally ripped that apart and embedded it into a larger piece.

Originally inspired by a Rumi poem:

Loneliness seeks company.
Separation gropes for form.
But this is the hour of union when
Emptiness opens its arms, saying,
Come, I am the root of firmness
and ecstasy both.
You’ve been in love with reflections,
Now embrace their origin
Come, let nothing stand between us. Let
us be naked face to face seeing.
Water spills from a rock.
The rock disappears.
